Out of this World! The Bluedot Festival – Jodrell Bank, Cheshire – 2019

As festivals go, the Bluedot music and science weekend in the heart of Cheshire is easily in the top 5 in the UK for its sense of uniqueness. Located at the super cool venue of the Jodrell Bank Space Observatory, just the venue alone gives this fest BIG points!

Whats more, Bluedot attracts some of the really great acts both regionally and internationally that you may not find on the typical festival circuit.

This year’s highlight was Kraftwerk, the electro German uber cool and timeless quartet that just get better as they age, mainly thanks to their incredible 3D and laser show.

Of course the weather can always make or break a festival and despite the amazing temps, Cheshire and manchester suffered some serious downpours in the days before and on the main opening night but managed to hold off for the rest of the weekend, give or take a few showers.

After a brilliant Hot Chip set not the Friday, the combination of Jarvis Cocker (who was clearly loving the venue too) and Kraftwerk made for an unforgettable Saturday night. New Order dazzled on the Sunday night with their stage lighting and visuals adding to a fantastic outdoor experience.

Well done Bluedot, which is not just about music, but also celebrates space exploration and science and some comedy too. It is without doubt the must-go festival in the north. Bring on 2020!
