collette walsh manchesterMy work as a national newspaper and magazine journalist over the years has developed into broadcasting, presenting and social commentating on national and regional TV/radio.

As a broadcaster, I regularly appear on programmes such as Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour, BBC Breakfast (BBC 1) and I’m a regular chatterbox on BBC 5 Live – The Tony Livesey Show, Stephen Nolan and others. I have also appeared on Sky News, ITN News and Irish TV and radio. Regionally, I have appeared on LBC Radio (London) and also speak on BBC Radio Manchester, London, Ulster, Three Counties, Scotland and many, many more.

Commentating on BBC Breakfast

I am often asked to do news reviews/commentary. Topics/areas I’ve covered include: women’s interest, dating, sport (football), entertainment/TV (I have a background as a showbiz journalist), debates about style and social trends, the Royal family, human interest news stories and of course, culture/arts and health/lifestyle…. even football. Click on my TV & Radio archive to look at just some of the topics and shows I’ve contributed to.

While I have interviewed many very high profile individuals/celebrities over the years and naturally love talking on the funnier and lighter side of life, I also talk about some pretty serious topics too.

Discussions/phone-ins on national radio and TV have included: equal rights, bereavement, health issues (I’m a qualifed counsellor and holistic Therapist). I am also often called to talk about the British media and press – I’ve always got an opinion on that!

Newspaper/news reviews

Newspaper review on BBC 1 – BBC Breakfast

I studied politics at university and current affairs remain a passion. My other key area of social commentating is reviewing the news for top radio and TV news channels. Having worked for both the tabloids and broadsheets I understand news-room culture and love a great headline or juicy story that’s got the whole nation up in arms.

Presenting – I have also been asked to host several slots and sections on TV and radio, always with plenty of lively banter. Over the  years, I’ve interviewed people from ALL walks of life – from a top politicians and rockstars, through to a recently bereaved parents and incredible charity campaigners. I am, admittedly, fascinated by people (nosy!) and have a real hunger to know everyone’s story.
