World Book Day – Breakfast At Tiffany’s on Audible.co.uk

Audio book on Audible.co.uk – Breakfast at Tiffany’s by Truman Capote and narrated by Michael C Hall.

Breakast at Tiffanys audio bookToday is World Book Day and to celebrate I have (for a change from reading) been listening (while I work and potter around the house) to the audio book of Truman Capote’s wonderful novella – Breakfast At Tiffany’s.

I’ve seen the film (with Audrey Hepburn) countless times and love it. However, I have to admit I have never actually read the book and so when I heard that one of my favourite actors, Michael C Hall (star of the TV series Dexter) had narrated the novel for Audible.co.uk – I just had to download it.

While I absolutely devour and read books all year round, the pleasure and simplicity of listening to an audio book is highly recommended. There is an art to story-telling and a great audio book can truly invite you into the world of the author, via the voice of the narrator, and keep you captivated.

The very engaging and soft tone of Michael C Hall’s voice is perfect for Breakfast at Tiffany’s. I am sure even the late Truman Capote would approve!

The story? Well, unlike the romantic film I know so well (with the happy ending) the true story of Holly Golightly as delivered in the original book on this audio version is much more complex, tragic and fascinating. However, it is also so wonderfully written and insighful about human nature and love that I will be happily listening to this audio-book again… and again.

Enjoy listening to Breakfast At Tiffany’s yourself and download it on Audible.co.uk here.
